Notes
1. This is (almost) the final version of the schedule and can possibly change before the start of the Summer School. It is intended to give an indication of the Summer School programme.
2. It is likely that some other activities will be added in due course.

Note: There will also be some KSK and Kinko “open sessions”, which are an opportunity for participants to pose questions about any pieces, techniques etc. to the teachers representing those schools.

CONCERTS
European Shakuhachi Summer School, Weltkloster, Radolfzell, 19.-22.06.2014 Concert Programmes
18.06.2014, 20:00h, in the assembly space of a school near the Weltkloster
Note: This concert is not officially part of the Summer School, but Summer School participants who are in Radolfzell in time can attend this concert free of charge
Japanese teachers of the Kokusai Shakuhachi Kenshukan will present a broad programme of KSK material.
19.06.2014, 20:00, in the assembly hall of a school near the Weltkloster
Summer School Concert 1
All Summer School teachers, presenting pieces with a contemporary orientation, as well as some honkyoku. This concert will include the premiere performance of a new piece by English composer John Palmer, commissioned for the Summer School
20.06.2014, 20:00h, in the Franciscan Church (Franziskanerkirche), Überlingen
Summer School Concert 2 (preceded by an excursion and dinner in Überlingen; meal optional, paid for individually by participants)
All Summer School teachers, presenting a cross-section of honkyoku, gaikyoku and contemporary pieces.
21.06.2014, 20:00h, in the Allensbach Church (Gnadenkirche)
Summer School Concert 3
All Summer School teachers, presenting a cross-section of honkyoku, gaikyoku and contemporary pieces. This concert will commence with a group performance of Goru (Yokoyama Katsuya) by all Summer School participants. It will also include the premiere performance of Spirit-Presence, by Australian composer Bruce Crossman.
22.06.2014, 16:00h, in the main space of the Weltkloster
Summer School Participants’ Concert
In this concert, Summer School participants will have the opportunity to perform publicly the pieces on which they have worked during the Summer School.
23.06.2014, 19:30h, in the Cloisters of Konstanz Cathedral
Note: This concert is not part of the Summer School, but participants may like to stay an extra day, in order to attend it.
The space in which it will be held (Mauritius-Chapel) is architecturally fascinating, and has magnificent acoustics. The entry price is €6.
Lecture-concert: brief lecture by Dr. Jim Franklin, shihan, in German, followed by concert by the Japanese teachers of the Kokusai Shakuhachi Kenshukan (primarily honkyoku).
Additionally, a group of modern-day komuso from Japan will be attending the Summer School, and will be integrated into the concerts in various ways.
